Simms Women's G3 Guide Wader Review
Finding great fishing apparel that works for you is a tough challenge in itself. Add in being a woman, and it gets even more difficult. Not only do you want something comfortable, breathable and durable, but also a good fit that isn't restrictive. The Simms Women's G3 Guide waders really do have it all.
ELSA’S SIMMS WOMEN’S G3 GUIDE WADER REVIEW
The first thing I said when I pulled them out of the box was, "ah, finally." The texture of these waders feels more like fabric than rubber, which immediately tells you they are going to be a dream to wear. They are smooth, robust and exceptionally comfortable, which is a massive tick for me.
When I put them on, I was surprised at how light they were and by the fact that although there was enough room in them for me to jump over logs and scramble up rock faces, the fit was flattering. I'm sure my fellow fly fisher gals have all experienced the very uncomfortable drop crotch on waders that have been made without women in mind; that is definitely not the case with these.
THE GRAVEL GUARDS ARE GREAT
My favourite feature on these waders is the roll-down, elastic, gravel guard that easily slips over the tops of your boots. There is no fiddling with trying to hook your waders onto your boots or having that hook flap around and snag on something in the water. This feature also makes you feel secure. Walking through fast currents and on uneven surfaces can be tricky, but with these tight ankle cuffs, it feels just that little bit easier.
FRONT POCKET & FLY PATCH
The front pouch and fly holder are a dream. We've all been in a situation where you see an epic fish rise upstream, but the struggle of pulling out your fly box and re-tying just takes too long, and wearing a bulky vest isn't everyone's cup of tea. So having a little selection right there on your breast makes the whole process so much easier.
THE UPDATED SHOULDER HARNESS
The new shoulder harness system is thick, secure, of remarkable quality, and very easy to adjust when you've just removed five layers because the sun came out.
AND THEY JUST LOOK GOOD!
And last but certainly not least. They look good. This isn't at the top of the priority list, but feeling and looking good on the water is an incredible bonus. So much of fly fishing is feeling confident on the water, and these are definitely a boost with their terrific dark colourway and slim fit.
I couldn't recommend them more.
