Saratoga Fishing - I'll be back
I'd planned a day out chasing long tailed Tuna with Gavin Platz from Tie N Fly Outfitters on the Sunshine Coast last week, but as luck would have it our plans were blown to pieces by some serious winds that kept us off the ocean. Instead we opted to head up to one of the highland dams to see if we could find some late season Saratoga.
For a kiwi trout fisherman it was certainly a great new experience to be in high country Queensland chasing an exotic species.
These flooded valleys are stacked full of great fish habitat for Saratoga, Australian Bass and Murray Cod. Unfortunately these images are only brief gaps in the weather and despite our best efforts we struggled to battle through the weather and produce any fish.
Here is a photo of a Saratoga courtesy of Tie N Fly Outfitters. I'll certainly be back to make sure I add one of these prehistoric looking puppies to my species list.
