Simms Women’s Flyweight Boot 2025 Model | Hannah Clement

To start with some context - the original Simms flyweight boots were a leading footwear design in the fly fishing industry; a light shoe style wading boot that had advantages over heavier models prior. However, if you owned a pair, you’ll know that while they were one of the lightest models on the market, they weren’t exactly the most industrial.

Now, Simms have reinvented these super comfortable boots but made them even better! With improved lace eyelets, a stronger rubber toe cap, and with durable TPU based synthetic woven upper material, these boots have surpassed the old favourites for a more durable flyweight.

I’ve been testing the new women’s 2025 model on some long days; 12-18km days are somewhat common for back country fly fisherman, and I was pleased to see they passed the test. Thankfully these boots are still ultra-light weight, as this helps you go further without dragging your feet, and with drain holes to prevent excess water holding in them, it all helps you fish longer without getting the fatigue heavier boots will have. The improved eyelets are great for quick lacing and will help to stop the laces wearing out where they used to on the old model. The wide footbed still ensures great grip and stability while out on the rivers, and the woven synthetic upper stands up against the harsher rocks we have in New Zealand. And the fact that these are designed specifically for a woman’s foot, may in fact be the best thing about these boots.

Overall, a solid reinvention from Simms on an old favourite. I recommend you pop down to your local Simms dealer to snag yourself a pair.

The womens model comes in women’s sizes US7 – US12
