Friday Fly Day - The Mighty Pheasant Tail
Another OG of the fly scene, the pheasant tail nymph has been around since nymphing became a thing, and still today catches anything that swims. The reason? It simply looks like what trout eat. Very much like what trout eat.
Sawyers PT
Death Metal PT
PT Czech Nymph Claret
PT Flashback
Soft Hackle PT
This is a pattern that has stood the test of time against more modern productions and materials and while many, many variations may exist, there are very few trout that would turn down a well presented original. However as anglers we like to tinker and have a PT for any situation.
So love them or hate them, let us raise one to Frank Sawyer and his pheasant tail - a real battler in any nymph box.
